PDFGeny is a hosted PDF generation API. You send HTML, a public URL, or a template id with data, and receive a PDF rendered by headless Chromium. It offers synchronous and asynchronous endpoints, batches of up to 100 documents, signed download links, webhooks, PDF/A output and 40 ready document templates.

How do I generate a PDF from HTML?

POST your HTML to the PDFGeny API and the response is a finished PDF. Rendering uses headless Chromium, so your CSS, web fonts and page breaks behave exactly as they do in a browser.

What can I use instead of wkhtmltopdf?

Accepted Answer

wkhtmltopdf is no longer maintained and ships an old WebKit engine. PDFGeny renders with current Chromium through an HTTP API, so there is no binary to install or patch.

The free plan covers 50 documents a month with a small footer line and no card. Paid plans: Starter $9 for 1,000 documents, Growth $29 for 10,000, Scale $99 for 50,000 a month; yearly billing gives two months free. No per-seat fees.

Yes. PDFGeny ships 40 templates — invoice, quote, receipt, pay stub, timesheet, NDA, certificate, event ticket and more. Each is filled from the web page or by posting JSON to the API with the template id.
